As many of you have already read on our various social media pages, Jerry “Iceberg” Hayes, our beloved founder and owner of RenegadeRadio.net, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Iceberg was an incredible teacher, mentor, boss, friend, and family member who spent his life helping artists and musicians alike in any way he could. From showcases and live streams at local music venues to album reviews, interviews, The Icehouse, photographing bands, Dallas vs LA, and so many other projects, Iceberg was there always doing whatever he could to help the local music scene. In the process of helping others, RenegadeRadio.net became more than just a website with cool bands, it became a staple for the local Dallas music scene and online music communities all over the internet.
Over the past 25 years, RenegadeRadio.net has been Iceberg’s passion project, designed to play and promote incredible independent music from around the world that mainstream media would never touch. As the station expanded its reach, Berg shared his labor of love by bringing in countless talented DJs, photographers, writers, promoters, and collaborators. The mission to spread the word about all these amazing musicians and artists alike continues today and for many years to come.
Thank you for being patient with us during this difficult time as we navigate the next chapter of this beloved radio station and music community. We are all still in a state of shock over Iceberg’s passing. With the help of Berg’s family and the collective minds of the Renegade community, we are currently trying to make sure that all the inter-workings of RenegadeRadio.net are still in place and remain that way so music can continue to be played and promoted. Once we have a handle on everything and make sure various services can continue uninterrupted, we will post updates for you. Rest assured, we are not going anywhere, and we hope you will continue to stick around for 25 more years and beyond – Iceberg would love it if you did.
