The Speaker Wars are a Breath of Fresh Deja Vu

0

If you’re not familiar with The Speaker Wars, well, you probably are. Americana on one hand, folk rock in the other. Formed by Stan Lynch and Texas based artist Jon Christopher Davis, (JCD), they’ve just released their debut set and lets just say The Speaker Wars are a breath of fresh deja vu.

Lynch, of course, was the drummer for rock and rolls legendary Tom Petty. This is where a sense of yesterday in the Americana feeling that comes from those roots, sure. Something fresh is being brought to you by JCD. Together, you just get a warm sense of yesterday listening to the songs, one by one.

Now, as usual, I tend to find a favorite song and let my reviews center around these few. This release the song found me and I remember it from seeing and hearing it live at a private show in Denton, Tx back in Sept ’24. I’ll toss on a few pics form my table view at the end.

When the band started playing “The Forgiveness Tree”, I knew from the first note it was going to be an amazing song. You see, the Forgiveness Tree is one of those songs that makes the world ok for a little while, at least while you’re listening to it. Something universal about the story in the song that you can relate to where pain and love can come together in hope.

Oh lord, we could use that today.

You’ll hear a lot of amazing “adult rock” song after song, and you’ll quickly be adding a few of your own favorite songs to your spotify playlist. Influences anywhere from Tim McGraw to Eddie Money to of course, Tom Petty, The Speaker Wars is indeed a breath of fresh air with a soul we all remember.
