Renegade Christmas!

December 13th at Skillman St Bar Renegade Radio has put together one HELL of a line up of old, new and out of town music you don't get to see much but love it when you do! $10 cover at the door and we kick things off at 9pm sharp with local new band on the block, Escapting Gravity. From there we bring in a favorite from the Austin area in Ember. After that, The Bright, possibly the biggest noise maker for going *national* in Dallas today and then we wrap it up with The Opus Flux as they wind down one hell of a musical journey with their career and part was as Opus Flux but stays friends with the scene! Gonna be a hell of a night so plan on it now!

The Rasmus Return - Black Roses

It's been two years since we've heard anything from the Finnish band The Rasmus. In that time fans the world over have been begging for new material and avidly keeping up with any news on the band and their activities. Their last album, Hide From the Sun, was released in the US by then US label DTR Entertainment in October of 2006 much to the delight of US fans who had until then been having to import CDs to get their Rasmus fix.

On September 26, 2008 - only last week - fans finally got what they'd been begging for. Black Roses, the band's seventh album, was released in Europe with a single that had already been topping the Finnish charts. While a US release date has yet to be announced it hasn't stopped the American fans from shelling out their money for an import. And it hasn't stopped RenegadeRadio from getting a copy so we can let you know whether it's been worth the wait.

In short - it has. Black Roses may have similar sound to previous albums but that doesn't stop it from being great. The Rasmus are masters at making catchy tracks that stick in your head for days and this is no exception. The first single, Living in a World Without You, is sure to hit the pop charts when it finally reaches the States and is classic Rasmus. Ten Black Roses is by far my favorite. A little grittier than the others and of them all this is the one I find myself singing under my breath almost daily. As far as ballads go there's only one on this album. Live Forever - like all Rasmus ballads - will tug at your heart strings and have you swaying gently from side to side.

Though tour dates have begun to show up for Europe, the US is so far left out of the loop while the band's label, Playground Music, searches for a US distributor. Until that happens (and I've been told a deal is in the works) fans will have to order the album online. The best price we've found so far is http://www.recordshopx.com and ordering here will help their chart position in Finland. I highly recommend you go buy it. And stay tuned to RenegadeRadio.Net - as soon as we have details on US distribution and tours we'll let you know!
