Dallas vs LA

It's time. One of my biggest goals in starting RenegadeRadio.Net long ago was to simply find a way to give a valid stage to such good music most of the world would never be fortunate enough to hear otherwise. While I've learned a lot along the way as to why it's the way it is (an important step into wanting to change it for the better you see) my goal never changed.
Get Dallas Indie music heard where ever I could.
I've been working with Jeff Duran on 100.1 The Edge in LA for almost a year now doing "ice picks" - a weekly segment where I call in and talk about up and coming bands (broke Pop Evil and Burn Halo on the Duran show) as well as Indie bands we all know and love in Texas such as Venture, Faktion and Feel Never Real.
So I guess to a point I accomplished my goal and got not only these bands heard but in these efforts we pushed The Bright into a bigger spotlight where their talent could take over and they own MTV drama it would seem now. Nothing but congratulations to them for all their work and the small part we could play along the way.
But as with dreams, get one want more. So I talked with Jeff Duran and we're going to run a segment called Dallas vs. LA. We'll play the songs on a given day/time every week and you can e-mail or call him with your vote.
Simply put, most votes wins.
We're doing what we can for an ultimate winner but to me, all bands we can help promote and get California music heard by Dallas fans, and Texas music heard in LA, win. We'll get a major story for the winning band in LIT Monthly, we'll pimp it here on Renegade Radio and even put up a special player just for the indie bands we're featuring. Jeff Duran may even have a few things for the winner on 100.1 the Edge, but we're still going through those details.
We're not sure yet how many bands we'll be able to get in or how long this will run, but we're shooting for the first of 2010 and we'll be trying to gather our massive voting forces together to support Texas rock. They may have home field advantage, but we have the better music and fans, right? RIGHT?
I thought so!
Keep in touch with the newsgroups for Dallas vs. LA Updates, we have a forum there ready to roll. We'll vote a band or two into the contest and we'll talk about all the bands who both want to be a part of this and who we ultimately decide who to work with. We're looking for the best in Texas and Dallas is my home, but we're here to push ALL Texas Rock to California and show them how it's done.
LIT Monthly and Renegade Radio are working tight on this one cause we love the music, and we love the scene and want to help make it what it used to be. Maybe a little better, ya know?
It's definately time.
