Crushing Juliet out of Memphis Tennessee formed in July of 2007, originally as a 5 piece band. In July of 2009, they downsized to the three members group that we know of today. Members include Justin McKee (lead vocals, guitars), Steve Hatmaker (Lead guitar), and Lonnie Hammer (drums).
Influenced by several artists in many different genres such as Green Day, Blink 182, HIM, Lady Gaga, Avenged Sevenfold, Led Zeppelin, Follow Boy and Rush, you can see they have a well rounded variety of many great artists. Their music is not only fun, but it is also easy to digest and relate to. Their first Ep released on June 5th 2010 entitled Broken Cadillac is a 11 track album produced by Dave Cowell formerly of Breaking Point, currently now with Chosen View, you as a listener will not be disappointed and I encourage everyone to check this group and album out.
In early 2010, I received a friend request from Crushing Juliet on My Space asking me to check their music out when I had the time. Little did I know what a band with less than a year together could produce! Aside the fact that the vocals were delivered with what sounded effortless, and only having three members, I was highly impressed with the production as a whole.
Over time, Justin and I wrote back and forth through email and talked on the phone to prepare for what has been one of my most rewarding moments as a producer and Dj! The Cats Lair the night that I highlighted them as my Sword of Omen turned out to be a great success as the listeners loved their sound and like me could "hear" the future that is ahead of them.
They are very friendly and care very deeply about their fans, which makes it impossible for anyone to not be able to work with them. Granted they are from the south, with these guy's it's not just because of the "southern hospitality" that was probably instilled in them as children growing up, they are genuine and that is one of the things that should be simple to be but a lot of people never fully become.
Not only have I had the pleasure to bring such an amazing band with a future that is looking so bright and promising to Renegade Radio and our listeners, but I had the opportunity to work with them and become friends as well. So be sure to check these guys out, shoot them a message on myspace, facebook, bebo, reverbnation or even twitter and tell them Dj Syria sent you!
I'm sure you will get a warm response! Justin, Steve, and Lonnie...Thank You for putting your trust in what started off with an email on MySpace, for embracing Renegade Radio as a whole, and for reminding not just myself but all of us here why we do what we do as Dj's and listeners. After all its all about helping each other out where we can and sharing the beauty of music with the world!
You can find them on MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, Bebo and www.reverbnation.com/crushingjuliet.
