Last Updated on Monday, 29 November 1999 18:00 Written by Jemini Saturday, 20 February 2010 15:56
Welcome to the new and improved RenegadeRadio.net News Reel! Thanks to Iceberg, your favorite news reel is now on the main page! Not only will you get the latest information on all of the shows here on ReneagdeRadio.net, but the latest Community News and from time to time, a band news reel under the heading “JemTalk”.
So you don’t have to constantly read reports written by Jemini, RenegadeRadio.net Street Team Member Lynette L. Kane will be providing you with the information on Euro-Rock Radio, The Playground, and any other shows she feels like tuning in for. In addition to Lynette, we also have new street team member Helixon writing the show reports from here on out for Reckless Radio, and every now and then street team member Yukiko joins in on the fray to give you her notes on The Cats Lair, and in news reels past, Reckless Radio.
If you are a regular listener and would like to join in on providing a show report for your favorite show, here are the shows that are currently open:
The Pound with The Stairwell Showcase – Mondays from 7-10pm cst only on RenegadeRadio.net
CappTalk (Cappie’s Show) – Tuesdays from 4-6pm cst (2-4pm pacific) on her college's radio station
Ice Picks – Thursdays at around 8pm cst (6pm pacific) on 100.1 The Edge
The Icehouse – Thursdays from 7-10pm cst only on RenegadeRadio.net
Grave Disorder – Fridays from 7pm until whenever Sean decides to stop playing tunes only on RenegadeRadio.net
The 24/7 Stream and Big Dog on the Weekends
We would also like reports on the 24/7 Stream and Big Dog on the weekends. Since these are not the usual shows, if you regularly listen to the stream when a show is not going on, all you need to do is keep a list of what songs were played. You do not have to write every single song that was played while you tuned in, but a good variety of what was played to give people an idea of the kind of music we play on RenegadeRadio.net. If you decide to tackle the 24/7 Stream, make note of any songs that you find are playing too frequently. This will help us improve the quality of the stream and give regular listeners like yourself a very good variety of tunes to jam out to. If you tune in for Big Dog on the weekends from around 10pm on Friday until 2pm on Sunday, all you have to do is keep a list of the songs that were played and any other things that Big Dog decides to do. Don’t worry, we will not make you listen to the stream the entire time, just tune in at the time you usually tune in and make note of what you hear.

Now for the some show news for Saturday, February 20, 2010 through Friday, February 26, 2010.
Reckless Radio (Sundays 2-4pm cst.)
This Sunday (Feb. 21, 2010) on Reckless Radio, the Reckless Crew will be back to their usual tricks and hopefully be joined by Wick and the ever elusive Agent Dimple. To get an idea of what to expect for this improv-based show, check out the show report from last Sunday which happened to be Valentine’s Day. Starting this Sunday (Feb. 21st), your reports for Reckless Radio will be brought to you by Helixon. Helixon, thank you so much for contributing to the news reel! You rock!
Reckless Radio Show Report from Sunday, February 14, 2010
This Valentine’s Day was not celebrated in the normal way when you tuned in for Reckless Radio. With Wick off doing another show and Agent Dimple (the supposed sound guy for the show) missing in action, Karis and Syria had the show to themselves. The first major topic was Karis adding to the already hilarious Dallas area bus system story. In this edition, Karis was walking home in the cold to her house with groceries in her hand and Agent Dimple drives by in his car, acknowledges that the person walking is Karis, and then doesn’t stop to pick her up. Agent Dimple, you’re in big trouble. Then the conversation moved to what Karis would be like when she gets old. Syria then contemplated how she would be when she gets old. The image that emerged was a tiny wrinkled Syria behind the wheel of a massive Lincoln town car barely able to see over the steering wheel. Then Karis got onto a rant on how they should outlaw Lincoln town cars followed by the driving habits of senior citizens. The topic then moved to a bit of minority bashing by people in minorities. Karis talked about all of the crazy things that black people like to do to her cars like hydraulics and pimped out rims on a Neon or buying curtains for car windows. Then Syria bashed her minority by talking about the stereotypical Asian-owned nail shops. Usually these nail shops are owned by a married couple that is always arguing. While patronizing such nail shops, you come in expecting to get your nails done cheaply, but in the end you end up spending a lot more because you got talked into getting your eye brows waxed and a message in addition to getting your nails done. You look great by the time you get out of there, but you spent way more money than you wanted to originally.
During a short music break that included Rev Theory, Within Temptation, and Imogen Heap, there was talk about how the PANF (Poor Ass Negro Fund) and the Reckless Renegader’s Bail Bond Pay Pal accounts need to be set up, in particular the bail bond account after the minority bashing. Then Syria went into the weekly news reel. The headlines for the segment included rants about the abortion sign in Atlanta, Georgia that says “Black People are an Endangered Species”, the Amy Bishop shootings, and the oldest person on death row finally dying at age 94 in Arizona. Take a look at the links provided for each story and then we will let you imagine how the rants went. Then, just for Viva, the oldest person to die on death row, Syria played Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”.
After a short music break of “Smooth Criminal,” Boniface, Prince, and BoA BoA, the final rant ensued as Karis talked about how commercials on different TV stations are geared towards specific audiences. For example, a few stations geared towards the African American population have had some commercials with all black people dancing and singing about chicken nuggets like porch monkeys or a an add on a local news station selling a jalapeƱo peppered hamburger that features all Hispanic actors, mariachis for the background music, and at least one sombrero floating around. Then Syria and Karis gave a shout out to the person in the chat room from Greece and dedicated the Grease Musical Song Mix to them.
FYI: If you missed the Super Bowl Party broadcast, you can at least see what went on behind the scenes with all of the crazy photos Syria posted on the Reckless Crew’s Facebook page or on Syria's profile page here in the Renegade Community.
If you want to find out what the Reckless Crew will say and play next, tune in next Sunday from 2-4pm cst only on RenegadeRadio.net.
The Cat’s Lair (Sundays 7-11pm cst.)
This Sunday (Feb 21st), DJ Syria “The Siren” will take you on another genre ride and feature The Futhamuckas in her highlight reel “The Sword of Omen”. To give you an idea of what to expect on said genre ride, check out the show report from Valentine’s Day.
Cat’s Lair Show Report from Sunday, February 14, 2010
DJ Syria kicked off the Cat’s Lair on Valentine’s Day with an eclectic mix of tunes and had a little Valentine’s Day music segment. During said Valentine’s Day segment, Syria chose happy love songs like a 80s pop version of “Lean on Me”, “The Glory of Love”, Ub40 and Robert Palmer’s version of “I’ll be Your Baby Tonight.” The “Sword of Omen” was the amazing Within Temptation. After giving a little bit of background on the band, Syria played a long block of WT tunes including “All I Need”, “Final Destruction”, “Hand of Sorrow”, “Deceiver of Fools”, “The Howling”, “Our Solemn Hour”, and many others. Then Syria took everyone on a genre ride and played whatever struck her fancy for the last hour of the show.
The Pound with The Stairwell Showcase (Mondays 7-10pm cst)
Last week on The Pound, Big Dog had a free for all as he played anything he felt like playing and the listeners in the chat room wanted to hear. From what one regular listener said, he even had someone call in. Given that the stars align, The Stairwell Showcase will return this Monday with three brand new Texas bands, the latest RenegadeRadio.net Newsreel, and, at long last, a band newsreel. Stay tuned for more information on this show.
Euro-Rock Radio (Tuesdays, 7-10pm cst) Show Report for Feb. 16, 2010 by Lynette L. Kane
Kelly pushed albums by Violet Divine, The Jade and 45 Degree Woman. The chat room was full of listeners and Kelly rocked her audience with 45 Degree Woman - "Alone” and really kicked in to high gear with Downfall - "End of Story". Kelly also played a tune from the band Daniel Lioneye (aka Linde from HIM) and said that they should have a new album out soon. Of course she gave her audience Poets of the Fall – “Miss Impossible”. Kelly gave a shout out to Janni of Iconcrash as ERR will be having yet another interview with him when the band’s new album “Enochian Devices” is released and then rocked us with the beautiful song "Everlasting". So hey there Janni from everyone at ERR and we are anxious for the new album and interview! It was a really fun rockin' show on EURO Rock Radio. Thanks Kelly!
CappTalk (Cappie’s Show; Tuesdays from 4-6pm cst (2-4pm pacific) on her college's radio station)
On Tuesday afternoon, Cappie rocked out her college radio’s stream with some Black Sabbath, two bands from Japan, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, The 69 Eyes, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Apocalyptica, HIM, and much, much more. The Playground (Wednesdays, 7-10pm cst)
Kelly rocked the stream once again on Wednesday evening with The Playground where she takes her Euro bands and mixes it up with anything else she feels like playing and the listeners want to hear. In the end, you have a wonderful variety of tunes to delight your ears. Some of the artists spun on Wednesday included 30 Seconds to Mars, iMi, Muse, Dommin, Switchfoot, Kid Rock, Ozzy, Family Force Five, Meredith Brooks with her one hit wonder “Bitch”, Santana, Sonata Arctica, The Sounds, Jimmy Eat World, HIM, and many, many others. For a complete playlist of what was played on Wednesday, go to Euro-Rock Radio’s Twitter page. Tune in next Wednesday from 7-10pm cst to see what Kelly will play next!
The Icehouse (Thursdays, 7-10pm cst) Show Report for Feb. 18, 2010 by Lynette L. Kane
Berg didn't do his usual 80's segment he rocked his audience with some newer songs such as the fabulous new Billy Idol song "Body Snatcher". This CD also comes in DVD. I highly recommend it. After all, it is Billy! Berg really rocked with cuts from Hinder, Linkin Park, and Donnie In's "Ah! Leah!”. Berg then gave his audience a treat by playing a track or two from comedy albums of the 70's like Cheech and Chong and some from the 80's like Eddie Murphy. He had the listeners in the chat room rolling on the floor. Berg then treated his listeners to a cover song from Dommin's new album "I just died in your Arms tonight”. Dommin is on the HIM tour and will be a definite rockin' asset to the tour. Dommin is making quiet a name for themselves. They are great. He continued to rock his audience with Theory of a
Deadman.
From the Dallas vs LA contest, Berg played "You and I" by Project H, “Habit” by SouthFM (Paco Estrada), and “Undress Me” by Dirty Little Mouth. Then he announced that Dallas is in the lead 3 to 0. To round off this segment of the show, Berg played one more SouthFM (Paco Estrada) song called “Thursday Night”.
Berg started the after nine segment with the heartfelt song from “I’m on Fire” by "The Boss", Bruce Springsteen. That warmed everybody up for a cozy chilling time. He then fell into "The Biggest Part of Me" by Ambrosia and Andy Taylor’s beautiful instrumental "French Guitar”. Berg then closed the show with the beautiful, classic romantic song "Baby I'm a Want You" by "Bread" and "The Flame" by Cheap Trick. This was one of the best shows that I have heard in a long time. Iceberg knows his music and this was one really great show.
Dallas vs LA (first segment usually airs Fridays at around 6:30pm cst (4:30pm pacific) on 100.1 The Edge)
If you haven’t noticed by now, the winner of Round 3 of Dallas vs LA is Paco Estrada! Congratulations Paco! Thank you to everyone that have showed your support for your favorite bands and voted in your respective rounds or all three! Thanks to you, Dallas is 3 and 0!
The details for Round 4 of Dallas vs La with Feel Never Real representing Dallas have now been posted in this news reel, on the Street Team Group Page in the Renegade Community, all over the main page, on Facebook, and MySpace. In case you don’t want to venture away from this page, here is the information yet again.
Texas music fans it is time to make your voices heard once again by voting in Round 4. For round 4 of Dallas vs LA, we have Feel Never Real with the song “A Taste of Truth” representing Dallas and Serj Tankian with the song “The Charade” representing LA. This is not going to be an easy round to win as Serj Tankian is the former lead singer of System of a Down who has been going solo for the past couple of years. LA is out for blood but we will not give it to them because Texas has the better fans!
Voting for Round 4 has changed. Instead of an email ballot like we have had for the previous 3 rounds, go to www.edge100.com and find the link called “ON DEMAND” in the “Quick Links” navigation bar on the left side of 100.1 The Edge’s webpage. You will be taken to a page entitled “E-Requests”. Enter your name, age, gender, Artist Name (in this case it will be Feel Never Real) and the Song Name (“A Taste of Truth”). The cool thing about the new voting system is that you will be able to see who voted for who by name once the round is over!
The voting period begins NOW and will run until around Wednesday, February 24, 2009. We say around Wednesday because with Round 3, the voting somehow got extended into Thursday. For now we will say Wednesday. If the voting period extends, we will let you know immediately. For updates on this Round as well as the latest overall score, go to The Duran Show Page.
You are encouraged to not only to vote for your favorite band but to call into 100.1 The Edge’s request line at 661-947-6950 and/or email the station at
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
and request the week’s Dallas or LA band. The more support in email or call-in form the better!
At some point next week (probably around Monday, February 15th), you will even be able to not only call in and gush about your favorite band but cast your ballot for them while you do it.
If you missed the first segment that aired Friday evening, don’t worry, 100.1 The Edge will re-air the segment throughout the voting period (Friday, Feb 12th – Wednesday, Feb 17th) during The Duran Show (Monday-Friday 2-7pm Pacific; Sunday NOON-5:00pm Pacific).
Iceberg has updated the main page on RenegadeRadio.net and the “dallas vs la” page located under Renegade Shows with Round 4 information. You can listen to both songs that are up for Round 4 as well as songs from previous rounds on the “dallas vs la” page. You will also find more information about Rules and Regulations for the contest as well as what this contest is all about on the “dallas vs la” page.
For more information on Feel Never Real, check out their MySpace page.
For more information on Serj Tankian, check out his MySpace page.
Now GO VOTE FOR FEEL NEVER REAL and spread the information in this news reel in every place you can!
Ice Picks (Thursdays at around 8pm cst (6pm pacific) on 100.1 The Edge)
Last Thursday, Iceberg had Kelly take over Ice Picks to feature another single off of HIM’s new album “Screamworks” called “Shatter Me With Hope”. To check out all of the previous Ice Picks and maybe some information on which band Iceberg will feature next Thursday, go to the “ice picks” page located under Renegade Shows.
Grave Disorder (Fridays from 7pm until whenever Sean decides to stop playing music) Show Report for Feb. 19, 2010 by Lynette L. Kane
Last night was the Best show that Sean has done and one of the best I have heard on Renegade. It simply rocked! Sean was prepared, knew his stuff and the playlist was amazing.
Sean started his special Blues Night with some Jimmy Vaughn and then into some good Texas ZZ Top "Vincent Price Blues". (OH the Jimmy Vaughn.) Sean then kicked it into high gear with Willie Nelson’s "Whiskey River”, then crashed into Kenny Wayne Sheppard’s "Kings Highway". He really rocked us with the legendary John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, and Lightning Hopkins. He then rocked us with a one of a kind Roy Orbison song "Mean Woman Blues". He surprised us with a tune nobody had heard called "Can't Afford to Do It" by Fleetwood Mac. If he had not told us it was Fleetwood Mac you would have never known. He continued with Gary Moore and then he gave me a shout out and played a song called “Lie to Me” from my favorite blues man Johnny Lang followed by "Back for a Taste of Your Love". (Fantastic)
For the “Six Feet Undercover” segment, Sean rocked us with Gov't Mule with Warren Haines on guitar. Sean informed us that Haines is currently the lead singer for the Allman Brothers Band. He then rocked us with a cover of the Beatles "She Said, She Said" by Gov’t Mule. The next cover was a live version of "Hoochie Coochie Man" by Motorhead. He then spun the Four Horsemen "Still Alive And Well", L.A. Guns "I just want to make love to you", Slash's Snakepit “Welcome to the Jungle” (feat David Lee Roth) and Kiss "2000 Man".
For the “From Beyond the Grave” segment, Sean had two albums this week. The first one is "From the Cradle" by Eric Clapton where he played "Blues Before Sunrise" and "I'm Tore Down". The second album was also from Eric Clapton called "Sessions for Robert J", where he played the songs “If I had possession over Judgment Day” and “Sweet Home Chicago”.
We rocked to Alvin Lee and Ten Years After, "The Bluest Blues" and Taj Mahal Mocking Bird. Sean then closed out the night with the Jeff Healey Band "Cruel Little Number" and the legendary BB King "The Thrill is Gone". Before it was over Sean gave us some Frampton with "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and Aerosmith with "Road Runner".
Blues Night was such a success, that Sean is going to try and make it a monthly thing. Let him know what you think by posting your opinion in the Grave Disorder Group page in the Renegade Community. For a full playlist from this show and shows past, check out the Grave Disorder blog.

and Big Dog will add it to the play list for the weekend.
The 24/7 Stream
If you haven’t already noticed, Iceberg has completely redone the 24/7 stream. If you are not familiar with this stream, this is the music that plays when a scheduled show is not going on. Some of the tunes that have been running around include Burn Halo, Buckcherry, Fuel, Bulletproof Messenger, One Less Reason, Decyfer Down, Deaf Leopard, Switchfoot, iMi, Black Sabbath, Daughtry, Rev Theory, Dirty Little Mouth, Three Doors Down, Sick Puppies, 12 Stones, Decyfer Down, Ghost of Gloria, One Less Reason, and many, many, many more!
